Evangelos Venetis
Dr. Evangelos Venetis (b. 1977) is an expert on Islam and the Middle East, the Head of the Middle East Research Project. Venetis studied history (1999) and did his MA in the same field at the University of Ioannina (2001). He received his doctorate in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Edinburgh, UK (2006). He taught Islamic and Middle Eastern studies at the School of Arabic, Persian and Turkish at Leiden University in the Netherlands. He has been a research fellow on Immigration and Islam with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for Greek Studies at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada. His research interests relate to the Islamic world, Shiite Islam, Islamic economy, and geopolitics in the Middle East. Has he authored books and articles on various topics in the Middle East in the modern and medieval period, such as Islam, Religion and Politics (Forthcoming 2020), The Palestinian Issue (Forthcoming 2020), The Persian Alexander: An Annotated Translation (London, IB Tauris, 2018); Dr. Saleh Jallad's, The Pedagogy of Arab Leadership (Athens, 2017), Dr. M.S.
