You can’t fix something once the genie is out of the bottle. We in Britain know that because in the 1960s we had loads of council houses built, which were great for ordinary folk wanting to live decent lives, and they paid rent and utility bills gladly. But then the progressives started with the ”have a baby and you move to the front of the waiting queue” What could go wrong????? I know this is a different story but it is the same stupidity.
