Erdogan Hints At Using Idlib As Leverage Against The Kurds In Syria by The Duran

President Trump spoke with Turkey’s president on Saturday just days after U.S. forces clashed with Syrian government forces near an area where Turkish forces are attempting to resettle thousands of Syrian refugees.
Deputy White House press secretary Judd Deere told pool reporters Sunday evening that Trump had spoken with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a day earlier and “expressed concern over the violence in Idlib, Syria,” referring to recent clashes between Turkish and Syrian government forces in the region.
“Yesterday, President Donald J. Trump spoke with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey. President Trump expressed concern over the violence in Idlib, Syria, and thanked President Erdogan for Turkey’s efforts to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe,” Deere said.
“President Trump conveyed the United States’ desire to see an end to Russia’s support for the Assad regime’s atrocities and for a political resolution to the Syrian conflict. President Trump also reiterated that continued foreign interference in Libya would only serve to worsen the situation.”
Clashes occurred earlier this month between pro-government forces and Turkish military units in northeastern Syria, the site of a military assault by Turkish forces last year as part of an operation by Turkey’s government to resettle more than one million Syrian refugees.
Days ago the region was subject to further violence as U.S. forces fired on pro-government militants who were allegedly throwing rocks at them, killing one Syrian.
“After Coalition troops issued a series of warnings and de-escalation attempts, the patrol came under small arms fire from unknown individuals. In self-defense, Coalition troops returned fire,” said a coalition forces spokesman.

It’s absolutely amazing to listen to these two clowns how they discus about matters, they have absolutely no legitimacy to talk about, without even having the elemental decency of inviting the side that is the main star of this show, namely the Syrian government. These two guys are conducting “diplomacy” alá 19:th century style. In that very same process they are knowingly or unknowingly also drawing a big shame over their respective countries and citizens.
My first reaction to your comment was that it is unnecessarily rude, the second was “why are you here listening if you think these two men are clowns?, and the third was that although you declare that Alex and Alexander have “absolutely no legitimacy to talk about” the subject being discussed, you offer no alternative “legitimate” opinion. In case you hadn’t noticed, the title of this video is “Erdogan hints at using Idlib as leverage against the Kurds in Syria”, therefore, in this video, “the star in this show” is Erdogan and his hinting at using Idlib as leverage is… Read more »
I apologize if i was somewhat unclear in my comment, i was referring to Erdogan and Trump, as clowns not Alex Christoforou and Alexander Mercouris of course.

Once again, The Turks are having one of their recurrent bouts of genocide. Serbs of course, Macedonians, Bulgars, Armenians, Greeks and now the Kurds.
In 1914, 19% of people in Turkey were Christians. 3-4 millions were murdered during and after the First World War. Most of the others left. The world watched. Now the Christians number less than 1% of the Turkish population.
If the World just watches and waits, the Kurds will suffer the same fate.
Russia fought three great wars against Turkey in the past. The Turks are impossible to live with. Bad neighbours.
Erdogan is two-faced and arrogant but not nearly intelligent enough. This is why Russia’s President Vladimir Putin can play him like a fiddle to reach his aims: what is good for Russia and good for Syria.
Imagine what bad neighbours they must have been when the Ottoman Empire extended over what is now Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Macedonia, Romania, Syria, parts of Arabia and the north coast of Africa. Erdogan would have been better suited to a time two or three centuries ago. 🙂
The US/Israel “interventions” in the Middle East have murdered an estimated five million people, and left an estimated nine times that number injured, many maimed for life, and caused a steady stream of refugees. US/Israel-led sanctions have resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths in the Middle East by depriving people of medications. The world sits back and watches, just as it always does.

Excellent analysis as usual, but I have to take issue with your praise of al Monitor — it may be well-regarded by those calling for Assad’s head, but one can’t expect truthful reporting on Syria by Khaled al-Khateb, who insists on referring to the “Syria regime” and states that: “The Syrian regime and Russian warplanes and helicopters have caused horrific massacres against civilians, according to reports.” There’s the usual “regime” reference, and the accusation of civilian massacres by anonymous “reports.” This doesn’t pass muster and should never be accepted without extreme skepticism. I heard Alexander say that he READ al Monitor and quoted something from it. I did not hear him praise it. Alexander reads lots of different news media to get the whole picture of a certain problem or situation. He also reads Meduza, for example, which is an anti-Russian-Government news medium, published in Latvia and financed by the infamous Khodorkovsky. I also read it, because one can get a clear picture of what Russia’s “western partners” and enemies are up to, their latest plans and tricks.
