This time I have to disagree. Iran knows that the US has lost whatever power or influence it used to have, and can no longer function as an intermediary. The US has lost its seat at the table, so to speak. Iran also knows that Iran is Israel’s No. 1 target for total destruction in order to turn Israel’s fantasy of creating “Greater Israel” into a reality. At this point Iran sees itself forced to create a threat to Israel to defend itself against further Israeli attacks. It’s a dangerous but interesting gambit though. Seems there are simultaneous pushbacks from Russia, China and Iran over America’s foreign policy antics. Am I possibly hearing ‘That’s it, we’re done with you’ in chorus?
I suspect it’s even a thinly disguised challenge to Europe’s fence sitters.
