If you read the book ‘Icebreaker: Who Started the Second World War?‘ by Vladimir Bogdanovich Rezun, known by his pseudonym of Viktor Suvorov (who was a a former Soviet GRU officer), you will see that Operation Barbarossa was a pre-emptive attack by the Wehrmacht, on far larger Soviet Bolshevik force, which was been amassed for the extermination of all of Christian Europe.
