The reason Europe is collapsing is corruption. Borrowing mass sums of money to give to defense contractors to steal, will only accelerate the collapse.
The gas pipeline diameter is/was 1.4m = 4ft6″, So the troops had to stoop the whole way (12km), carrying all their kit. Maybe they towed that behind them.
