In this interview, Alastair Crooke describes what I call the Medvedev Map (below), published by former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev back in February. He does not speak of it in this interview, but what he describes is shown on this map. It shows all of Ukraine as a buffer zone between Russia and Western Europe, with Ukraine in pink and a tiny blue strip near the Polish border given to Poland, maybe a little bit to Hungary and Romania. That is precisely the end of the war that Alastair is describing here. Russia will not settle for anything less. Witkoff and Kushner think this is a big real estate deal and all about who gets how much money. They do not understand that Russia’s issue is security. Russia wants Ukraine as a buffer between Russia and the rest of Europe. They cannot have a failed or rump state on their border, and they will therefore have to rebuild it. They will not need any “help” from Witkoff, Kushner or Blackrock in doing so.
