The 25% most wealthy in society, the rich ruling-class, they keep the 50% working-poor so powerless by poverty and terrorized by killer-cops that they refuse to vote, allowing the 25% most wealthy to be the voting majority, to decide all elections and to hoard 75% of the wealth.
It is not 25%. It is the the top .01% to .001% who control the reigns of soft and hard power. Many professions demand and rightfully receive high compensation. The division of labor in First World countries, such as it is in 2020, is quite hierarchical. You sound off as a permanent college student from a wealthy kids’ college.
