Yes , I found it rivetting and had to break the watching of it into several segments so that I did not miss any of the implications of what Professor Hudson, Alexander or Glenn were saying. I am speechless in my admiration.

Lenin predicted the decay of imperialist economies. Marx lived in different era. China and Russia follow Lenin by repeating NEP in bigger and longer term scale. The goal is not capitalism look appealing, the opposite, the goal is keeping working class nostalgic for socialism, so they can revert this new NEP when the time comes.

Thank you, gentlemen, for a most illuminating discussion. I would like to ask you, please, regarding the issue of the “ad hoc” nature of Russian and Chinese economic moves – is “ad hoc” possibly the most practical and serviceable way of moving through uncharted waters? Why try to follow a ‘theory’ or a text-book strategy if one is in the process of innovation? We have to suck it and see, moving carefully, to feel forward into the unknown.
