Protests in Serbia send clear warning to President Vucic (Video)

The Duran Quick Take: Episode 590.

The Duran’s Alex Christoforou and Editor-in-Chief Alexander Mercouris discuss the ongoing protests in Serbia, which initially started over President Vucic’s decision to impost strict covid lockdowns, but have now morphed into a deeper unrest and dissatisfaction with the Serbian President’s government.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said the ‘terrorists’ fueling violence in Belgrade will be arrested and held accountable, after a fourth day of protests saw more tear gas and clashes with riot police.

“I am proud of Serbia for enduring this,” Vucic said on Friday from Paris, where he was meeting with French and German leaders to discuss negotiations with the breakaway province of Kosovo. He denounced the violence and chaos as “pure terrorism.”

A mass of protesters, mostly young men and women, gathered outside the Serbian parliament again on Friday, chanting slogans against Vucic, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, and the entire Progessive Party government.

Among their grievances were new lockdowns to halt the spread of Covid-19 and the alleged plot to recognize Kosovo, as Western powers have demanded for over a decade.

Brnabic called the protests “irresponsible behavior” and said that Serbia recorded 386 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, along with 18 deaths.

After a long standoff, a phalanx of police fired tear gas and moved to disperse the protesters.

Demonstrators fled down King Alexander Boulevard towards St. Mark’s Church, and some were arrested along the way.

As they gathered outside the church and chanted “Serbia!” the police fired tear gas again.

Gendarmerie in specially modified Humvees joined the fully armored riot police. There was no sign of mounted officers that had been used earlier in the week to run down the demonstrators.

Clashes first broke out on Tuesday, after Vucic departed for France and a day after the government announced it would reimpose a draconian Covid-19 lockdown – a measure later abandoned due to the public backlash.

Thursday saw a change of tone as sympathizers of pro-Western NGOs staged sit-ins and shouted down anyone carrying a Serbian flag or chanting nationalist slogans. Nationalists have repeatedly rebuffed attempts by politicians and NGO activists to take over the protests, on multiple occasions chasing off opposition officials who tried to infiltrate.

Vucic has speculated about “all kinds of influence from foreign security services” behind the protests. On Friday, he told reporters about an incident with “extreme right and extreme left” activists attacking each other with knives, before asking the police for help.

“They didn’t carry knives with the intent to trade World Cup cards, did they?” he quipped.

The protests have nothing to do with the re-introduction of CV measures, in response to the recent worsening of the situation, which is a direct result of the government’s irresponsible behaviour, and everything to do with the treasonous government’s betrayal of Serbia’s national interests (especially with respect to Kosovo and Metohija and the persecution of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro), its serial violation of Serbia’s constitution, its rampant corruption, its stranglehold on the media, its mishandling of the pandemic, and the complete lack of any political alternatives to the treasonous politics of successive Serbian regimes, for decades now.

Amazing video. How beautiful to see so many White people! Stay pure Serbia, dont let your culture be destroyed by the coffee coloured savages who have destroyed the UK.

How and why did these “coffee-coloured” slaves get to the UK? It was because of Great Britain’s colonial past. All those countries, former British colonies, with “coffee-coloured” inhabitants, probably did not appreciate the “milk-white” British besatzers and exploiters either. The Colonial History Book has many chapters. The last one has not been read yet.

This is a false flag operation done in a tradition of the Reichstag arson or Tonkin Bay, but much smaller in scope. To us, who have solid insight in local politics, Aleksandar Vucic played this well. Well only for himself and his NWO controllers. The operation was precisely coordinated, with a use of domestic and some foreign intelligence services from Israel, Ukraine, ex-YU republics, controlled soccer fans, special police forces, criminals and a bunch of naive patriotic kids. Qui bono? Vučić and the Kabal, in their efforts of handing over Kosovo to Albanians and further destruction of Orthodox Christianity. Breaking… Read more »

The opposition plays terribly because it has no idea what to do. There is only one pro western policy and Vucic took it.

The situation in Serbia is the result of destroyed tradition while new values imposed by the west do not bring good life. People protest and do not know why.

I have read many times how Vucic is on the cusp of recognizing Kosovo and yet nothing like that has come close. From what has been said the status quo is the preferred option for Serbia and all these “talks” with western powers are a charade. What has Serbia to gain recognizing Kosovo? EU membership? Perhaps 20 years ago that would have been tempting as the EU was throwing money around but not today. What is really going on in Serbia? this is a rather clumsy effort by western powers to loosen the Serbia’s grip on Kosovo. First it was… Read more »

Vučić, in a quiet manner and during Covid crisis in May, secretly handed Gazivode lake to the Albaninas, with a supervision of a few US officials. One more unnecessary blow to Serbia. In addition, one officially informed us on that. Serbia is geo-politically in a much better shape than most people think. We have a good support from Russia, China and Israel. The support from Russia will be even greater if the President or PM OFFICIALLY asks Russians for support. Bashar Asad just did that. This is how the Russians work, legality before acting. That was inconceivable only five years ago. Yet,… Read more »

Serbians in a riot mode, just because they can’t run loose and breath
in a carona-virus or two and die in agony? Spare me their stupidity.
