This has a very bad taste, as EU-Citizen this is a disgrace but everybody should know some things. Let me tell you a bit about Borrell, because spanish politics are often overlooked so people don’t know much about him. He was one of the main guys in the socialist party when they won the spanish general election in the mid-80s. He held many positions of power in that era – he was the minister of the Treasury and also the minister of public works. Those years were a nightmare for Spain: corruption was very common and the unemployment rate was sky high. Frankly, m’dear, the EU is a joke.
Europe continues to disconnect from reality following the US example. The time when reality will prevail is (hopefully) drawing closer. The sooner the better, however painful this may be for them.

Putin and Lavrov have handled the situation immaculately and has further split the EU. The more sanctions the stronger Russia becomes. Russia ought to pre-emptively cancel all gas, oil, resources and agricultural exports to the EU and the west without notice or negotiation. In this way Russia will prosper by replacing exports with other more reliable states. Russian people will know doing it tough and a bit of starvation is just a passing phase to a more prosperous independent future.
