The tragedy and the take-home message from the pandemic is how poorly constructed the public discussion has been. Here in Moldova, materially a very poor country, the response has been dramatically less hysterical than in my home country of the U.S., one of the wealthiest countries in human history, which has minimized the collateral damage. We should all ponder that and ask why the difference.

I can’t help but wonder if these three eminent epidemiologists are going to get the “America’s Front Line Doctors” treatment.
As a Scientist, this ‘crisis’ has been one of the most depressing periods of my life. Watching the unwarranted fear and the idiotic responses, has been a great shock for me. I really had no idea how little scientific knowledge the general public has nor how rare the ability to simply look up some facts and think, is.
The people are expected to have the mentality of a 10 year old child.
By the way you ain’t a “Scientist” Steve, you are deluding yourself.

I think that governments are simply looking at this disease as an opportunity to expand their power and increase taxes. Scientists are arguing amoung themselves about this disease, because scientists can be bought.
Governments have too much power and too much money they are driven to try to justify themselves.
