The deflation may start in China, but it will soon be worldwide. It is amazing how people today do not seem to be able to do math even on a elementary level. You may have a lower rate of inflation than you did the year before, but you are basing that inflation on a higher basis to begin with. It’s good that Alexander laughs at the mammoth screw-up of the West.
He must have realised, long ago (like me), that we only have two choices – we choose to laugh or, we choose to cry. I decided to choose laugh when I read that classic about the American Civil War in which the soldiers coped with the hardship kept their morale up by laughing and joking.
The only other circumstance in which we only have two choices is to be honest, or dishonest – there is nothing in between. (Except “white lies”).
This discussion misses one very important point. President Xi has, for some time, been talking about a movement to sustainability. A shift from quantitative to qualitative growth is a key feature of this policy. President Xi seems to be one of the few leaders who actually understands that our planet is finite.
