Where’s the laughing emjoi..
Well the UK ‘government’ will not do anything other than what it is told do by the US. But this is frankly beyond embarrassing. As a Brit I am frankly ashamed to how low the UK establishment will descend in their attempts to please their transatlantic masters. I’m speechles! I suppose Alexander is too, but at least he can say he is Greek!
Donald – slight correction: BOTH the UK and US governments will not do anything other than what they are told to do by Israel.
More Royalist than the King, more Catholic than the Pope!
I would like to share two stories in today’s e-mail: 1. Russia Shuts Ukraine’s Military Access To Black Sea It was announced Thursday that Russia will close off the Kerch Strait to all foreign warships for six months amid rising Ukraine tensions, and after the US threatened to send additional warships to the area. The Kerch Strait is the vital, narrow waterway connecting the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, and which importantly connects southern Russia to “annexed” Crimea. [BLN] #2 Biden isn’t ending the Afghan War, he’s privatizing it: Special Forces, Pentagon contractors, intelligence operatives will remain. Over 18,000 Pentagon contractors remain… Read more »
The hatred of Britain against Russia is old age, Alexander, as you well know. The haughty spirit of the British elites has always been – and it hasn’t grown weaker of late, at all – casting a condescending and envious eye – by turns – on Russia for centuries. Fyodor Dostoievsky relates a little incident that took place between a Russian official (perhaps himself) and a British envoy to that country, when the Briton expected to be helped with his coat by the “inferior” Russian official. The venom of this elite oozes out like a pestilent odour from their depraved… Read more »
Time to send in the Light Brigade.
”First time as tragedy, second time as farce.”
To quote Marx
not sure what you mean by “old age.” It dates back to the Bolshevik Revolution. The last Szar was a close relative of the British royal family. The bleeder genetic defect which afflicted the Russian crown prince came from the descendants of Queen Victoria.
Must have to do with the unwashable stain the Brits bestowed upon themselves for having abandoned their cousin to the Bolsheviks.
I mean age old, a few centuries of condescension, envy and hatred, by turns. It comes out of the root of an imperious mindset, which sees any possible challenger to its predominance as a mortal menace. Isn’t that the case on a personal level? The wealthy man, who worships at the feet of mammon, will equally look askance at his neighbour if he sees the other fellow developing his assets to a challenging level. Nations are ruled by men, with equal passions and vices; their reactions are not different, if those elites are possessed by that spirit of empire British… Read more »
Anybody in NATO who wants to make a complete idiot of himself, please stand in line at the Bosporus.
I think Denmark sent a submarine during the Iraq war. Would that be an option ? And Germany could send the Gorch Fock, now that would be a beautiful sight at the coast of Odessa.
So NATO really breaks up over a B-class ukrainian clown. You couldn’t make this up.
Hilarious.
Ukraine is the albatross hanging around NATO’s neck, taking a dump a day to keep the Russians away. Good thing Stoltenberg ordered express dry cleaning services before things heated up.
I hear NATO commanders spend hours looking for a place called Govno on their Ukraine maps when its right under their noses.
15:10 “It’s clear that the British don’t do history very well.” Sadly, neither does Mr Mercouris. At the start of the Crimean War, the Russians were very anxious that the British would attack Alaska. They correctly calculated that a British Naval attack would quickly overrun sparsely populated Alaska, then start to attack Kamchatka and Kalmykia. If you had a military-aware British Government, that’s what they would have done. They would have ignored military action elsewhere and gone for the weakest point. Unfortunately, you had the Peelite, Free Trade Government of Lord Aberdeen, of whom John Bright MP was an admirer.… Read more »
genuinely interesting stuff. But even imperial Britain had to justify its wars. How could you justify attacking Alaska to defend Turkey? And suppose the boot had been on the other foot and Russia had attacked Canada just as they defended the US West coast during the US Civil War.
Britain had a long history of using its navy first and its army last. This was a carefully thought out strategy of only using the army when there was a reasonable chance of success. Thus, though Britain had been at war with France since 1793, they did not put an army in the field until 1808. Even here they were cautious. When surrounded at Salamanca, the British army retreated and evacuated from Corunna. Wellington was similarly cautious during the Peninsular War. If there was no reasonable chance of success, he could and did retreat rapidly. The military strategy used during… Read more »
Probably sending the expendable old junk that even the Ukrainians refused to take.
England would last as long as it takes me to type this message in any conflict with Russia.
Reality is England cannot ever accept, that their relevance is fast becoming zero.
An over populated island from yesteryear that tries to impose itself on a world power in Russia is the laughing stock in the halls of the Kremlin.
OK you taxpayer start counting how much you are contributing to Bojo’s tough stance against a country that will crush us. Yes I know you won the Falklands by sending your best troops against 16 year old children just to elect Maggie again. But these Russian guys are tough and they will disrupt your TV viewing of Love island, Big brother and whatever S#ite you are watching.
Post-Brexit, Westminster should keep its nose out of European affairs. Let Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia sort this out without external interference from the US and UK. Ukraine started this mess by ignoring the Minsk Accord and we don’t need a full-scale war over this when it can be resolved diplomatically. Go home, Britain, because this is none of your business and you are making yourselves look very foolish.
From what I’ve gathered about attempts at negotiation with the axis powers of WWII, negotiating with Ukrofascists is pure folly.
