Those people in Washington are stark raving mad. Fighting Russia is obviously a no-no. But attacking China would be even worse.

China’s defence policy is strictly defensive – as is Russia’s. So to fight the Chinese it would be necessary to go to China, or at least its near neighbourhood. The Americans would have long fragile lines of communication and logistics. And they would be under the guns of the immensely powerful Chinese navy and air force.

It would be a massacre.

The people in Washington are not in charge of US policy. Tel Aviv is.

I think China’s threat to the US is its high level of penetration, especially in metals mining, in South America, which (a) allows China to monopolise Rare Earths, for example, also silver, and deny product to the US, and (b) if you follow Michael Yon on his substack, China (along with Israhel) have been pushinfg many Chinese immigrants into the US via Daring (spelling) Gap, Panama and Mexico. Yon sees China’s policy as far from defensive, but very OFFENSIVE to the US and the West by means other than direct kinetic/conventional warfare. I believe Yon’s research, knowledge and conclusions. I… Read more »

Mr Zelensky is almost as subtle and tactful a diplomat as “stunning and brave” Kaja Kallas.

The people of Ukraine are the victims of their belief in their governments propaganda. Were they to realize they are losing the war badly, the peope would leave Ukraine, and the army would lay down its weapons and the war would end. They could then begin to rebuild their lives, with a new government that would be more interested in their welfare.

45 minutes of more whining and complaining. ‘Trump is in a great hurry and moving too fast to end the war.’ On the other hand you complain that the negotiations are taking too long or going nowhere. So which is it? ‘The U.S. team wore ‘inappropriate’ casual clothing.’ Maybe they are seeking to calm the tension a bit between two countries that are fighting to kill each other. ‘Witkoff is not a propa negotiator.’ This is now a constant complaint. Where are these seasoned and propa British negotiators who can show Witkoff how it’s done? They must be printing their… Read more »

At least you get well-researched and understood factual info, rather than the US/UK/EU propaganda you get everywhere else.

Agree and Alexander has done a superb job on a daily basis with his Ukraine war reports.
Chide him only for his more emotional complaints about Trump’s efforts to end the war.
He looks down on Witkoff but Witkoff has had some successes where the professional diplomat class have all failed.
Would prefer that he focus on European heads of state and the war in Ukraine where he has extensive research knowledge and delivers very good analysis.
Still watch or listen to him every day.

Comment at 22:57 – the US wooing Russia to be nice to Europe so that the US can focus on China. SO, via a roundabout, and totally unintended route, and from a position of WEAKNESS to the Russians, the US asks Russia to co-operate with the US by being nice to Europe so that the US can focus on Russia’s ally, China. THIS is bound to be an attractive proposition to the Russians because (a) Rus can insist on the new architecture for European/(Eurasian) security treaty; and (b) Rus is bound to be not 100% trustful of China, and the… Read more »

26:58 “The Americans are in a hurry, the Rus are not”, SO, Rus taking their time means that the US & Rus will get to know each other over a longer period of time, will form friendly and co-operative relationships between the participants in the talks, learn to appreciate each other, which is all good for the US (although, hopefully, Rus won’t fall into the trap if TRUSTING the US).

45:09 The Americans turning up in casual clothing.
Maybe it was a deliberate attempt to signal friendliness on the part of the Americans towards the Russians, not disrespect or slovenliness.
This is the 21st Century after all. No one dresses formally any more, unless they are putting on their tux’s, bow ties & over-the-top dresses to go partying. ????

‘She is a dictator.’ Zelensky, no territory deal. Fake Flamingo. EU officially cuts off Russian gas

US-Ukraine diplomacy time wasted, as Russia gained huge advantage
