Has he always been crazy or has old age and senility finally taken its toll?

As has been the case historically for the Poles, they are the victims of their ruling class, who made deals with the enemies of the Poles, served the interests of the Catholic Church, and blamed their minorities – especially their Jewish population (when there was one) – for their misery. They must be the angriest people of Europe, always suffering for their ignorance. When in the US Army, my “buddy” was a Polish American who told me that the Jews of Poland were disloyal. The Jews were expected to be loyal to Poland, when the Polish aristocracy was not!

The Poles seem to have a Death Wish ingrained in their character. Furthermore, they are always willing to be the stooges for someone else’s goals.

Let’s not forget that the Poles started WW2 by being the first to declare war on Germany. All at the urging of Britain and France.

They are the ultimate patsies.
