A personal letter to Donald J. Trump

Dear President-elect Trump,

I would like to firstly congratulate you on your sensational victory. I have supported you from the start and I firmly believe that in winning the election you have struck a decisive blow against a system which is corrupt to the core.

I have never met you and therefore I do not necessarily expect you to see this letter, but I hope that you do. In watching your campaign, I have seen in you, a man who listens to people, understands people and relates to people. Unlike your opponent, you never condescend to your fellow man and woman, you speak to them, not at them. I believe this is one of the many reasons you won the election.

I would like to specifically address the issue of Russia. You have taken a principled, moral, just and righteous stand on US-Russian relations throughout your campaign. No amount of intimidation could change your views and this is a quality I respect in an individual and praise in a leader.

The conflicts that the Obama administration  caused with Russia are mutually detrimental to the American people, the Russian people and to the stability of the world. You have said that Obama is not respected by Russia, this is true. He is aggressive in his policies and weak in his ability to explain and defend them.

The Russian Federation and the United States have every reason to cooperate in this brave new world in which we all life. There are mutual challenges both countries face and mutual areas of cooperation that could materially, politically and dare I say, spiritually enrich both countries.

The Obama administration has funded and armed a fascist regime in Ukraine, Obama refuses to accept the democratic will of the Russian people living in the beautiful Crimean peninsula, Obama wants to provoke Russia in Syria rather than working together to fight the Islamic terrorism which threatens the lives not only of Arabs but of civilians in Moscow, New York, St. Petersburg  and Los Angeles.

If you are able to reverse this tide and embrace Russia as a partner, you will be remembered as a great peace maker, as a man who ended a totally unnecessary conflict and brought the world closer together. You will be remembered as the man who stopped Crooked Hillary’s crooked wars. You will be remembered as the man who said ‘America is too great to behave so small’.

Provoking and threatening Russia is the act of a bully, of a small man from a small nation. You are a great man and you want to make America great again. America will be great again, if America is an ally rather than an enemy of Russia.

Both countries have so much to contribute to the world. Russian culture is one of the richest in the world. One would have to possess a heart of stone not to be moved by the music of Tchaikovsky and Scriabin. One would have to have a soul of ash not to be inspired by the words of Pushkin and Mayakovsky. One would have to have an absent conscience not to recognise the heroic sacrifices of the Soviet people against fascism which saved the world, something that people the world over celebrate on the 9th of May.

America can be loved again, though because of the likes of the Clintons, Bush and Obama, in many parts of the world, America is neither loved nor respected. America has given the world so much. The entrepreneurial spirit which you personally embody has given the world everything from the personal computer, to rock and roll, the smart phone, abstract expressionism, the Cadillac and coca-cola, Hollywood nights and the New York skyline, our modern fashion,  and the foods and drinks which are now international fare.

America is at its best when America creates rather than destroys. As you have rightly said, America has stopped dreaming. Please, sir, make America dream again, this will indeed make America great again.

After all, people in Russia watch Hollywood films, and the great New York Philharmonic, draws thousands of people from your home city who love to hear the music of great Russian composers. Russia and America have so much to gain from friendship and the world has so much to lose if these two great countries succumb to suspicion, competition and hatred.

Interestingly, in spite of Obama’s ‘deplorable’ record, one of the few areas in which Russia and America continue to cooperate is in space travel. America cooperates with Russia in order to bring her best and brightest to the cosmos.

I think this is a perfect analogy for the future. Both countries must collectively reach for the stars in a spirit of peace, respect and ideally, mutual admiration.

If anyone can make this happen, you can, sir. Please do not let the world down, please do not let yourself down. By doing this, you will not only make America great again, you will make America better than she ever was.
