Anyone who has read historian Ilan Pappé’s “Lobbying for Zionism on Both Sides of the Atlantic” understands how this British cult of Zionism, a heretical ideology that is neither Christian nor Jewish, was able to take control of US foreign policy over more than a century of lobbying. Israel is a part of US imperialism, but this is a unique relationship in which the Israeli tail is indeed wagging the US dog. The result is a completely incoherent policy and a disastrous losing war. Trump is already beginning to look for an offramp but Iran is not going to give him one. They are going to keep shooting until the US military is driven out of the Gulf. It is the same situation as with Russia and Ukraine. It is impossible to negotiate with the US because it is completely treacherous – it does not keep its promises or abide by its agreements. Russia is proceeding on the battlefield to accomplish its strategic objectives. Iran is doing the same.
