This is the Keynesian endgame. As Keynes wrote in his “General theory on money and credit”, which would more aptly have been called “Insane blather of an upper class twit on the real world he has no clue about”: The governement might as well pay people for digging holes in the sand and filling them up again to create “demand” and thereby “stimulate” the economy.
