Ukraine never bothered to build up its defenses because the purpose of the Ukrainian military was offensive. To destroy those that refused to be second class citizens to Ukraine.

Take the “size” of the Ukrainian army from the beginning of the conflict. Add the amount of “recruits” and then subtract the size of the army as of today. Hmmmm…. That should say something.
The “plan”, if one were to call it that, for ever ramping up the amount and type of weapons, is to further escalate. This has been a two and a half year effort to drag the West ever further eastward into direct confrontation with Russia. For Russia this has been a period of time where it’s ramped up its production and forces in “anticipation” of the very real possibility of just that… NATO going all in. Thus they’ve husbanded their forces.
Concerning the UK position, I would argue that their hard line is related to Boris Johnson’s visit to Kyiv on 9 Apr 2022. Whatever Johnson told President Zelenskiy, whether threats or promises, it persuaded the Ukrainian president to forego peace in Istanbul and to opt for war and destruction afterwards. The Britts run their foreign policy the same way as Israel. They are instigators and constantly work to undermine the US and control the US foreign policy. The UK is as much an enemy to the US as Israel is.
