American & EU financial shock and awe = Shooting themselves in the foot (head?).
American & EU hubris.
There has been much written today in the press that the Conservative Party is moving behind the scenes to get rid of Sunak by forcing a vote of no confidence in October. The trouble is, if they do that, they will then have had almost as many changes of leadership (PMs), since 2019, as Boris Johnson has sired children. That does not fill the electorate with confidence.
Who would they find to replace him?
I have observed and taken clear note of the west underestimating post Yeltsin Russia and the competence of Putin. I have watched astonishingly in real time how Russia had anticipated what was coming at them after beginning the SMO. But, the really amazing spectacle was how they manuverd and adapted to the endless provocations and insults that I do not believe were anticipated beforehand. In that display of dexterity it can clearly be seen the level of competent and educated people that fill the layers of Russian government and industry.
