US President Joe Biden has defended his decision to withdraw military forces from Afghanistan, saying that US operations will end on 31 August.The fourth US president to oversee the war also defended the speed of the US withdrawal, saying it saved lives.

The stupidity of those controlling the US is mind-boggling. This reminds me of the Vietnam war, more than half a century ago. Vietnam was a French colony, and the French were forced to pull out after realizing that they could no longer control or defeat a rebelling Vietnam any longer. So the Yanks decided, hey, there is a vacancy, and moved in, rather than looking at the causes of why the French had been forced to retreat in defeat. We all know how that ended.
