In last week’s meeting of the group ‘Medical Doctors for COVID Ethics’, I was asked to debunk the myth of overpopulation as the ideology has evolved from Thomas Malthus to Francis Galton to modern Transhumanism.
We contrast this ‘dismal science’ of the imperial ‘science of limits’ with the more healthy tradition of open system renaissance economics as advanced by Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, John Quincy Adams, Henry C Carey and many other great statesmen both American, Asian, European and beyond over the course of the past 250 years.
The entire lecture is admittedly quite long, clocking in at 3 hours, but the main course occurs in the first 60 minutes while the Q and A period occupies the remaining time.

The Green Revolution (artificial fertilizer) is a disaster.
The automobile as a prime means of transportation is a disaster.
Plastic as a convenient material to support human life is a disaster.
We are still in Evolution 1.0. Random and uncontrolled human breeding.
Evolution 2.0, selective and controlled human breeding awaits.
There is no guarantee that humans will be a successful evolutionary experiment.
Nature will decide on that.
We only need to look at the situation in the Ukraine today to see how primitive human social behavior still remains. Young Ukrainians dying for what? We can go to the moon but can’t resolve the simplist social issues. Amazing. Then when Bill Gates and Anthony Fauci think that they can solve the problem, they engage in the dumbest, most assinine and stupid attempts one can imagine. Unbelievable. These two idiots should’nt be allowed to operate a garbage truck.
Matthew, can I interest you in a hardly-used, fully-operational cornucopia? Full tank of premium delusion-fuel. Very reasonable price, and I can see you’re an enthusiast… 🙂
Currently located at Planet RoseTint, Proxima Centauri. Buyer collects. (Uber UFO lift available)
If interested, just drop me a line at NoLimitsToGrowth House, NoLongDescent Road, GrowthnProgressforever Park, Startrekkytechietechie, MalthusGetLost, 2100.
I was not aware of that awesome opportunity! Sounds good. If Matthew doesn’t want one, I am certainly interested. I’ll check my piggie bank immediately.
Have any of these anti-Malthus buffoons actually READ Malthus?!? He does NOT predict a huge population boom and collapse. That’s the whole point of his book! Good God!!!
We live on a finite planet. It’s the only home we have so far. So there certainly has to be an upper limit to the human population it can support. We might then raise the question of sustainability. Does anyone think that the current level of human population and activities is sustainable? If so, I will be auctioning off the Brooklyn Bridge soon. Be there.
Notice how the sensible realists on this comment tail have all received a minus one vote from – someone. LOL!
Keep right on deluding yourselves, cornucopians! There couldn’t possibly be any limits at all, even on the one finite planet where we can actually live, could there? ‘Course not! The godlike, faustian brilliance of humankind’s startrekkytechietechie will magic away all realworld objective difficulties! ‘Course it will; obviously; as an article of faith.
Mars and Moon colonies (fully self-sustaining) here we come! (not)
Now, about that previously-owned cornucopia for sale; and that upcoming bridge sale…
roflmao!
