Putin to meet Central Election Commission head to discuss election results

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with the Russian Central Election Commission’s (CEC) chairwoman, Ella Pamfilova, later on Monday to discuss, among others, the country’s municipal and regional elections held on September 10, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“Today [Putin] will meet with Pamfilova, the meeting was being planned for a long time. Ella Alexandrovna [Pamfilova] will inform the president about the outcome of the election day, about innovations that were tested, what results the tests produced,”

Peskov told reporters.

On September 10, elections of different levels were held in Russia in 82 out of 85 regions, including 16 heads of regions.

“Of course, the discussion will include what positive practices used during the last single voting day can be effectively used in the presidential election. In other words, that will be a conversation about the electoral system and how everything works,”

Peskov explained.
