Well, it’s been a great start to the New Year so far. Hillary Clinton becomes Professor of Demonology at Columbia, Africa can look forward to receiving tanks (or vehicles with wheels) through the efficient Ukranian black market, Kevin McCarthy has successfully exposed the true venality of the US political system and everyone, everywhere in Europe/UK/USA has flu/covid/a bad cold/pneumonia/a hangover (take your pick). Doesn’t bode well for the rest of 2023. But, hey, happy Orthodox Christmas today to Armenia, tomorrow to the Eastern Orthodox Church and Happy Epiphany to the rest of us.
I had an epiphany today – I realised that that the Fed so aggressively raising rates under cover of inflation is in fact to bring recession & economic hardship to China and Russia, so that their economies will not be strong enough to continue war with the US. Some financial pundits seem to believe that the US will only have a short and mild recession, which would mean that the US can continue the war whereas Russia cannot. But I don’t agree with them.
