The US need for oil overcame the desire for regime change. Presumably that was Maduro’s bargaining chip. “You want our oil, because the Saudi’s told you to buzz off, then get rid of Juan Guaido.” So bye, bye Juan, you’re on your own. I bet he didn’t even get a pay off.
If Venezuela didn’t need the money as much as it does, it should tell the ‘gringos’ to take a long walk on a short pier.
It’s not the US Need for oil, it’s the US Greed for oil. The US produces enough fracked gas to cover its needs. But now, after the EU sanctioned Russian oil and as a consequence faces freezing, the US wants to come to its “rescue” by exporting (cheap) Venezuelan oil to the EU at premium prices.
Who needs enemies when you can have friends like America.
