It’s very foolish of Mr Trump to enter a debate with Mr Mevedev on social media. A head of state cannot win an argument with a relatively junior (for now) politician. It looks very undignified, and what’s more he is liable to go off half-cocked and publish ill-judged statements. Which he did.
Moreover, Mr Medvedev is a world-class street fighter and the USA has few, if any, politicians in his class.
If Mr Trump really does order nuclear missile submarines close to Russia, he will be putting them in danger. The Russians will know what to look out for, and will quite probably be able to track the submarines as they approach. Once identified and pinpointed, they are hideously vulnerable.
If we had American missiles we could hit Moscow, if we had American satellites, computers, and technicians.

The basic trouble with the Americans is their entitlement. They really believe that they are the Master Nation (rather than Race) and that everyone else is bound to obey their every command. They also believe that if anybody is disobedient or disrespectful, the USA has the right and the power to smash them.
Those beliefs are counterfactual. People who have counterfactual beliefs and act on them put themselves in serious danger.

I saw a Medvedev retaliation (or purported to be) today.
