Trump’s Venezuela policy has nothing to do with the original Monroe Doctrine. The “Donroe Doctine” is naked imperialism. Trump is saying that the US literally owns the whole Western hemisphere, all its countries and resources. The only good thing about it is that there is no pretense and the whole world can see that the Emperor has no clothes. Trump has absolutely no respect for international law or the US Constitution. In his second term so far, he has militarily attacked seven countries. However, he has avoided a major military commitment of troops, instead trying to achieve results on the cheap with regime change operations. But Venezuela is likely to be a different matter. As to Greenland, that would be very easy to take. There would be no military resistance, the US could just walk in and plant the flag. Europe might object, but there is nothing they could do about it, unless, of course, they grew a spine, really turned against the US, and joined Russia and the BRICS. But their leaders have been vassals of the Empire for eighty years and can’t imagine being anything else. The European people will have to kick them out before the policies of their countries can change. Making Greenland the 51st state breaks international law, but the 50,000 or so residents of Greenland might be OK with it. There would at least be no bloodshed.
Mearsheimer says the Europeans are desperate to keep the US in Europe, not only because of Russophobia but because without NATO to hold them together, they will start fighting among themselves as they always have. But their desperate attempts to appease Trump are signs of weakness that just incite the bully Trump to walk all over them. The only way to get your way with Trump is to stand up to him, as Russia China and Yemen have done and won. Moreover, Russia is doing its best to break up the US relationship with Europe and also to break up Europe into its constituent countries. In other words, they are breaking up the Empire that has existed in the West since ancient Greece and Rome. This is the deepest source of Western Russophobia.

European people are sick and tired with the US establishment…both parties, as well as the European Commission. This is not who we are! Get these thugs out
