It’s almost beyond belief that such a small number of incompetent short-sighted western politicians and their advisors can do so much harm to hundreds of millions of their own people in such a short period of time.

Yes. Home ownership is relatively low in Germany. There is already something of a crisis in the rental market with sharply rising rents and tenants having to leave homes they have lived in for many years. This is a consequence of ultra low interest rates causing price rises in housing.
A bizarre side effect of low home onwnership in Germany as compared with Italy is that Germans are less well off per capita than Italians. This does not play well when the Italians need financial help.
Alexander, get a Union Jack T shirt with a cross of St Patrick on it. How would you like a Greek flag minus its cross?
