I think Colonel Wilkerson is over-optimistic about the prospects of sweeping mines. Minesweepers are small fragile ships, and a single missile would sink one. The Iranians have been pounding Israel – over 1,000 km away – with missiles. So what could they do to minesweepers less than 100 km away? It wouldn’t even take a missile; a single 155 mm artillery round would be enough.
