There seems to be a common misunderstanding as to the origins of electricity. It has to come from so-called ‘fossil’ fuels.
Not to defend this, but California gets a nontrivial amount of electricity from renewables, and more than half from non-hydrocarbon sources:

And yet it still has such queues and problems.
Gee, if they say we actually get so much electricity from renewables, it must be true. It’s not like these people ever lie. Nah.
