John Varoli: Japan’s new Prime Minister goes all out choosing the wrong side

A brilliant commentary – if you cannot get the word about Ukraine out directly, this is another way to get it done.

The statements, views and opinions expressed in this column are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of this site. This site does not give financial, investment or medical advice.

The following piece is a full and unedited reprint of my friend John Varoli’s latest substack piece. Once “officially” focused on Russian and Ukrainian foreign affairs, John experienced Russia at one of its more unsavory periods, then left. However, with the emergence of present-day propaganda attacks against the Russian Federation and its leadership, he found himself reassessing his positions on both Ukraine and Russia. This piece is highly reflective of his viewpoint now.

One comment I want to make before turning you over to his far, far better writing is this: People do change. Nations and national attitudes do change. The error many of us make is that we refuse to accept and analyze facts to this end until it is far, far too late.

The thinking man or woman knows that nothing stays the same, and to be agile enough to accept and observe reality is one of the best tools in dealing with it. NATO and the Collective West are out of touch with reality. That is why they insist Ukraine is winning the war, or that there is no need to have Russian input in the Swiss “peace talks” meeting that is coming up.

Eventually of course, this will collapse, and cancel culture will indeed cancel itself. Until then, and in order to bring that day about more quickly, we must think for ourselves and analyze reality at all times.

To that end, then, here is John.

Japan: Land of the Setting Sun in Biden’s Grim World

Like an impotent shogun, Japan’s leader went to Washington this week to bow before the feeble U.S president, pledging vassalage. The Japanese nation was humiliated; the American people betrayed.

While I am a trained analyst in U.S. foreign policy, with a focus on Russian and Ukrainian affairs, my ‘real’ work for the past four years has been analyzing events in Japan. That’s not by choice. Any American who speaks truthfully about Russia and Ukraine is excommunicated from the professional community, employment in which depends on loyalty to U.S. government goals without question.

So, when the offer came in summer 2020 to tackle events in Japan, I couldn’t refuse. I had no other job opportunity. Everything was going well with Japan until today, when I read the speech that Prime Minister Kishida delivered to the U.S. Congress.

At a time when the global community is taking a stand against the increasingly totalitarian liberal ideology emanating from the White House, the Japanese leader chose to ingratiate himself with Joe Biden and his ruling party. Now I understand why his popularity in Japan is 26% and falling. The man is spineless and sold out the Japanese people to the ruling class in Washington.

I trust that Kishida might not last much longer; but then, immensely unpopular globalist leaders, such as Macron in France, somehow manage to hold on to power and ‘win’ elections despite the fact that the majority is against their rule. It’s peculiar how ‘democracy’ works in liberal societies.

Below are excerpts from his speech and my commentary:

PM Kishida: “Freedom and democracy are under threat around the globe.”

Me: I agree. Freedom and democracy are under threat in the U.S. and globally because of Joe Biden’s violent foreign and domestic policies that clamp down on basic freedoms, and which stoke and fuel brutal wars abroad. So, Mr Kishida, why didn’t you condemn Biden during your visit to the White House?! You had the chance to scold him, but you didn’t. That means you are part of the problem.

PM Kishida: “Russia continues to threaten the use of nuclear weapons, which has contributed to worldwide concern that yet another catastrophe by nuclear weapon use is a real possibility.”

Me: That’s a lie and you know it. Moscow said that nuclear weapons would be used only if the existence of the Russian state was threatened. And, by the way, the U.S.-led coalition, of which Japan is a member, poses an existential threat to the Russian state. Biden has several times threatened to overthrow President Vladimir Putin, even though he has an 85% popularity among his people. A violent coup d’etat is not very democratic, wouldn’t you agree, Mr Kishida?

PM Kishida: “New forms of oppression are imposed on the world. Freedom is suppressed through digital technologies. Social media is censored, monitored, and controlled.”

Me: Welcome to Biden’s America! This is the dystopian hell that we Americans have been living in since at least 2020. When will you lodge a protest with the White House? Please put your money where your mouth is.

PM Kishida: “On the spaceship called ‘Freedom and Democracy,’ Japan is proud to be your shipmate. We are on deck, we are on task. And we are ready to do what is necessary. The democratic nations of the world must have all hands on deck.”

Me: Your metaphor is bizarre and humiliating. Biden’s foreign policy has brought death and misery to millions of people in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. We need Japan to stand up to Biden and stop him before he ignites a world war.

PM Kishida: “Japan has taken strong sanctions against Russia in the wake of aggression against Ukraine. We announced over $12 billion in aid to Ukraine, including anti-drone detection systems.”

Me: Ukraine is one of the world’s most brutal totalitarian states. How can you not know that opposition parties are banned; freedom of the press is non-existent; dissidents disappear and are murdered; Zelensky’s press gangs abduct young men and send them to the front; ethnic cleansing is Kiev’s policy towards the people of Donbass and Crimea who seek freedom under Moscow’s protection. You call for protecting “freedom and democracy”, so why do you embrace the brutal regime in Kiev, where Zelensky has a popularity rating of about 25%?

PM Kishida: “Bonded by our beliefs, I pledge Japan’s firm alliance and enduring friendship. We are your global partner today, and we will be your global partner in the years ahead.”

Me: We, the American people, need Japan’s help to stop Biden; to guarantee that our presidential elections will be honest, free from Biden’s dirty tricks. That means stop persecuting the main candidate from the political opposition. Yes, “freedom and democracy” are under threat… right here in America. So, Mr Kishida, whose side will you be on? On the side of a power-hungry globalist clique that’s destroying freedom and democracy, or will you join the American people as we try to reclaim our country and bring an end to this sinister chapter in our history?

Thank you, Mr. Hanisch, for posting Mr. Varoli’s article here on The Duran. I subscribe to Mr. Varoli’s posts on Substack, and had read his Japan article yesterday.
I must say that both of you gentlemen are fine, clear writers.
I urge folks to read more of John Varoli’s posts on Substack. You will have another good source for honest and well-written news and analysis, in addition to The Duran.

Me and my bros used to joke about that when it was still funny circa 1985.

Seems like Kishida is bending the knee in order to keep the Sakhalin 2 project operational and to not get Nord Streamed and/or assassinated. It provides 10% of Japan’s nat gas afterall and it’s been pretty hushed up in western MSM (for obvious reasons I suspect) since it certainly doesn’t add to the facade of a “united front.”
