I don’t understand how Trump can tell Ukraine that it needs to pay back money that was voted on and passed by the former administration, not as a loan but as a gift. If he has absolute power, then so did the Biden regime to act as they did. I’m not sure this isn’t another troll by Trump, but it’s a very nasty situation.
It’s becoming more apparent that the rare earth “deal” is just a way for Trump to save face. He knows he won’t score any great success against Russia — if he thought Starmer was a tough negotiator, wait until he’s face-to-face with Putin. So he’s taking his pound of flesh from Zelensky instead, and touting it as a win for the US, hoping to tame the neocon voices who are dead-set against any deal with Russia. What Trump is doing is preventing the UK from being able to use the rights to the resources that were promised in the 100yr. deal as collateral for the loans that the UK needs to try to stay financially solvent.
Trump is still angry about the part the UK played in Russiagate, and he wants to put the screws to them, and ensure the UK stays totally under his thumb.
The UK tried to screw Trump, and now Trump is getting pay back….
