US: Syria is Now a Fully Failed State

US State’s lesson for the world has been the same for five plus decades now. Washington’s Imperial mind declares that it’s more profitable and logical to create a failed state with resources to be exploited remotely, than to attempt (by fiat rule) to govern that state locally/directly. The desirability of exploiting a ‘failed state’ may be exemplified by the US role in Afghanistan, Vietnam, Iraq, and Libya, or for that matter supporting the Ukraine as a proxy failed state, at war with Russia.
Now Syria joins the list.

Somewhat like the US invasion and occupation of Iraq from 2003, it appears that by 2011 Hillary Clinton’s west had little consideration for the consequence of creating a failed state in Syria. The primary US goal was to assist Israel in its war versus Syria, not to consider what would happen when Assad was removed from governing… just as Saddam was overthrown by the US in 2003, if somewhat more rapidly, after the US decision was made to do so.

Meanwhile Russia’s leadership is forced to re-learn the lesson of Afghanistan, that attempting to assist in the governance of a western-provoked and created failed state in order to stabilize that state, probably won’t work. That’s a simply-put attempt to analyze a very complex political and military reality. But in brief, this western ideal to destabilize the world for its own profit, leverage, and exploitation, has been a very real western agenda, even before World War 2.

What comes to mind? The consequence for Empire, where the western imperial agenda is to create a failed state regarding any sovereign state that opposes the western hegemonic order. As I’ve written about many times before, it’s as if the Treaty of Westphalia and the concept of Westphalian national sovereignty is long dead. That is, dead for any state that opposes the hegemonic, so that it is no longer considered a sovereign state in the historic sense.

Anyway, what are the intended and/or unintended consequences of Syria’s western-imposed balkanization [1]?

For Turkiye, one intended consequence is a resurgence and re-imposition of the concept of the Ottoman Empire, that Turkiye seems to be pursuing. Not to mention the new construction of a natural gas pipeline from Qatar to Turkiye, so that Turkiye may supply natural gas to Europe, thus cutting Russia out of the gas deal Turkiye already has with Russia. Which will reinforce Erdogan’s claim of 2023 that somehow Turkiye is energy independent.  And smooth the way for Turkiye to exploit gas resources near and in Syria.

Qatar is of course quite happy about these developments in Syria too, and Qatar plays a large role in funding the ‘evolved’ al qaeda terrorists — or er, ahem, what we now call ‘rebels’ in the west — in Syria’s Idlib province.  Qatar gets its pipeline, and reinforces “Muslim brotherhood” links to Turkiye, too.

Another western-intended consequence is that Russia has lost its port in Tartus, which was recently abandoned.  You can bet DC’s Neocons and the CIA in Langley are jumping for joy with that one. Also, that the US occupation of Syria’s eastern region and al Tanf base may be secure for the time being.

All of the above is significant for Iran, which is beset by problems of its own, and seems to be struggling with weak leadership subsequent to the assassination of Raisi earlier this year.

The foregoing is written by a westerner (me) who has no local knowledge of Syria or its people, the lives they live there, or how the complex parts of this puzzle interact. For that, please refer to Kevork Almassian, who has consistently provided accurate gen on this subject, and accurately predicted how this engineered coup would evolve over the years, and recently.

As for Israel, has Israel truly won its war versus Syria after nearly eighty years? Even with Assad gone, Israel must be careful about what it wishes for. While Israel itself is a terrorist state in the pay of the USA, and Israel funds/ foments terror all over the globe, not all terrorists funded and backed by Israel will necessarily pay homage/ tribute to Israel going forward. If the enemy of my enemy is my friend, what happens when that friend becomes the enemy? An unintended consequence – at least from the point of view of the western collective?

It’s possible that the spheres of influence in Syria will not be as easily bribed and corrupted by the US as other regimes in west Asia have continually been bribed and corrupted. Plus the new regime in DC is sort of a mystery in this regard. But because of the Beltway and Wall Street’s incestuous relationship with Israel there is no indication that the US position in Syria will change. What could change is how the al Nusra front and its Idlib allies in Syria interact with the US and Israel. Of course it’s too early to speculate.

The conclusion is that the creation of this Syrian failed state – just as in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya – reinforces Washington’s ideology that Russia can be balkanized too, where the unintended (?) consequence might result in Oreshnik strikes on western interests.

So far, Russia has been restrained and cautious in how it approaches the fact that the collective west is an unchained mad dog that has lost its mind. But the US mad dog is encouraged to bite ever harder, every time it perceives that a real or imagined opponent to its dollar empire, has been converted to a failed state.

Even so, anarchy in Syria could result in long term realignment between the Axis of Resistance to US Empire, in ways that the devious minds known as the US federal government may never imagine.
Let’s hope so.

[1] Some may balk at the balkanization claim, but from Afrin to Deir Ezzor, Syria has been occupied by various competing powers since 2015.

Every cloud has a silver lining, and now that the Israeli/US Headchoppers are in control of Syria, the conflict can be declared over, and we can send back all the parasitic Islamists who fled to Europe, back to their filthy Al-Qaeda Caliphate in Syria, and be rid of the vermin, once and for all.

I’m convinced this will all be sorted out and that Assad will be back. He is popular with his people and there are many religions other than Islam who live side by side in peace under his rule.

I would love for Syria to go back to the way it was also, but you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Unfortunately, Syria is full of extreme Sunni fundamentalists, and it was only a matter of time before sunni extremism reared its ugly head and gained power.
