Most Western commentators still repeat the party line that “Russia has been fought to a standstill”, but what is really happening is that the UAF is in the grip of an inexorable, slowly crushing bear-hug. The bear is no hurry at all; the outcome is quite inevitable.

When you think about it – even briefly – the idea of a “nuclear umbrella” is nonsensical. An umbrella protects one from rain. It doesn’t attack the rain or vaporise it; it just passively keeps the rain from reaching one’s clothes. Nuclear weapons, even if reserved strictly for retaliation, in no way prevent an enemy’s first strike. All they can do is to strike the enemy back afterwards. That doesn’t in any way protect anyone.
