The primary objective of US military industrial complex is not to produce weapons. The primary objective of the US military industrial complex is to use corruption to steal as much taxpayer money as possible. It is not possible to use money to produce weapons and steal it at the same time. The stealing of the money will always be the agenda, so the military capability of the US will continue to decrease going forward.
I find it impossible to believe that the advisories of the US are not taking full advantage of the open US border situation to infiltrate the US with high trained saboteurs in the event of war. If we do end up in war directly with any of these larger countries, I believe we must expect domestic attacks here in the US, which may be used by the government as an excuse to implement Martial Law.

There’s a huge difference between conditions during WW II and now. In the ’30s and ’40s there was significantly more manufacturing in the US. A huge percentage of US manufacturing is now offshore (a lot of product is “assembled” in America) that even if they wanted to switch to a full war time economy, how many factories would be available to retool? I’d bet it would be a very small percentage of what was available during WW II.
“It makes no sense” militarily, but the primary economic motivation of the oligarchs is to protect their investment that currently is at risk of collapse, so they have tasked the neocons with controlling and/or overthrowing any government or entity that attempts to undercut the dollar in trade.
