Our two favorite Marxist economists review the economic failure of the Trump economic policy of using tariffs to restore American manufacturing. It is true that tariffs were an important part of the American System of economics to protect and grow industry in the United States. But I would say that Trumpanomics is to the American System as the Donroe Doctrine is to the Monroe Doctrine. Alexander Hamilton would not have approved.
