Trump’s Iran war caused Republicans to be crushed in the midterms. Trump may well be removed from office, and he should be. The Democrats will get their revenge against Trump, but the question is whether or not they will maintain the same war policies in either Ukraine or West Asia. They are all sellouts who represent only their donors, not the people. However, there has been a enormous sea change in US public opinion, which is now both strongly antiwar and strongly anti-Israel. I don’t know if all that donor money can prevent this revolutionary change in pubic opinion from influencing Democratic politicians, and Republican politicians too, for that matter. So long as the public was in a state of ignorance and passivity, the politicians would just take the money and do as told by the donors, but the Lobby is now the kiss of death, and as the coming economic slump worsens, the public will not tolerate more money spent on war.
The Quincy Institute’s Kelley Vlahos looks pleased as punch at having been completely vindicated by these results.
