It was their second attempt at the Wimbledon doubles title. Two years ago, the Russian duo made it to the final, but lost to Switzerland’s Martina Hingis and India’s Sania Mirza in three sets. This year they did not disappoint their fans!
While it is Vesnina and Makarova’s first Wimbledon title, they are also the reigning women’s doubles Olympic champions. The duo also won the 2013 French Open and the 2014 US Open.
