Alexander, Alex, and Jeffrey on the count of 3 please step out of your academic delusions. What the world thinks and wants is irrelevant in Gaza. Especially what the useless, corrupt UN thinks. This is between Hamas and Israel, who are the only parties that will determine how this ends. Politics and PR have no force when both sides of the conflict, know that this performance is existential. I think Professor Sachs – much as I admire him – needs to look beyond the puzzling politics (US backs Israel from some misguided loyalty) to the fact that it became obvious when Blackrock gave Israel $33bn, that this is all about trillions of dollars laying under the seabed offshore at Gaza; the revised plans for the Ben Gurion Canal, which would obliterate Gazan land and (as a side issue, at the moment) the oil determined to be under the Golan Heights, from which the Israelis and their backers want to run a pipeline to Haifa and the West Bank… Read more »
