After 8 years of theatre, empty words and insincerity it is surely time to be realistic and say that both Minsk and Nordstream 2 have been dead for quite some time. The recent meetings at the long white table in the Kremlin with the leaders of France and Germany have apparently served to corroborate that.  So by securing and fortifying the contact line in Eastern Ukraine, Russia may well contribute to de-escalation.
