People are dependent upon the slave-masters for working wages; they have lost their relationship to land and local economy, and so have few resources to make any kind of stand.
The powerlessness you describe probably will add frustration to an explosive mixture of pent-up emotional forces already existent and which are building. The actual lack of alternative life support, outside “slave-master”ism, will mean less and less as slave-masterism becomes more and more inadequate for sustenance (as is now occurring). At some point the explosive mixture will detonate regardless of having “few resources to make any kind of stand”. Here’s hoping you (all of you) are making provisions for living through that time.
