If I was in Trump’s position, I would let Israel start the war that it so desires, and then let congress and the senate decide, and I would make clear that no secret ballots will be permitted if I am to give my approval. This way at least I would have the excuse that it was congress that made the decision, and I was just following along despite my extreme reservations.
