Both your comments today remind me of the Merkel & Hollande confessions of duplicity in Dec 2022 concerning the Minsk 2 agreement, in the aftermath of the US destruction of Nord Stream. Just like Kallas’s plea in Munich 2026 for the US to be more considerate of Europe, I would argue that Merkel & Hollande were doing that very same thing in 2022, especially after the revelations that the European budget for US supplies of LNG had risen threefold, compared to its earlier cost of Russian supplies of pipelined natural gas. As usual, you’ve completely missed the target on Sec. Rubio’s speech. His speech is about European CULTURE. He essentially admonished the Europeans and told them to smarten up if they want America to stay with them. Unlike JD Vance’s sharp kick in the butt, Rubio clarified the cause of Europe’s decline. Europe has lost its mojo and is losing itself fast. America does not seek the company of losers. Rubio talked of the value of European culture, language, history that Europe is squandering in its self inflicted torment of self-loathing.
