MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed in phone talks on Monday the current situation on the Korean Peninsula in light of the recent provocative actions by Pyongyang, the Kremlin press service said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Russian and German leaders strongly condemned Pyongyang’s disregard of the resolutions of the UN Security Council, and noted that such steps are contrary to the principles of global non-proliferation and pose a serious threat to regional peace and security.
“The sides reaffirmed that the settlement of this acute crisis is possible solely by political and diplomatic means, by resuming negotiations between all involved parties. They agreed to continue the discussion of the situation at the level of the foreign ministers of the two countries,”
