My Russian is extremely basic, yet I understand enough to realize that what Putin is saying and what’s featured in the subtitles clearly do not match. Additionally, the frequent jumps in the video show it to have been heavily edited. Lastly, but perhaps most important of all, is how outside the norm it would be for Putin to speak in such a tactless and undiplomatic manner as he is notoriously well-known precisely for his refusal to engage in such muckraking forms of public speech. This video has been shown on various Australian alternative media sites, and most people understand that it’s a skit.
It’s widely appreciated for two reasons – firstly, because it’s funny to hear it coming from such a level-headed character as President Putin, and secondly, for the exact same reason that it would never ever see the light of day in the mainstream media, because every word is true.
