Listening to the first few paragraphs of Alexander’s account of Russia’s interaction with the HTS, and having listened to Alex Krainer’s “Russian trap” idea expressed in his interview with Larry Johnson, my first thought is that, whereas the Russians may not have set the Syria situation as a trap from the outset, I firmly believe that they were aware of the moves that Turkey, Israel, CIA were making, and decided to turn it to their advantage. re Turkey having leverage over Russia in allowing Russia to retain its bases, given that HTS does not have the military power to intimidate any of the US/Isr/Rus forces in Syria, doesn’t Russia actually retain leverage over Erdogan by not co-opting HTS to turn against him???
Or at least a mutually beneficial arrangement to both Erdogan and Russia through having the Russian bases in Syria?
