French President Emmanuel Macron will meet Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Budapest on Monday, hoping to secure his backing on topics including investment, nuclear power and European defence ahead of the French Presidency of the European Union. It is Macron’s first visit to Hungary since his 2017 election and the first by a French head of state since 2007.

You think Macron is a EU integrationist.
Well, no.
He exploited the EU – and the Euro – for as long as it served France. Now that’s over, because the Euro is close to imploding. So Macron jumps ship. Recently he made some bilateral deals with Draghi of Italy, totally bypassing the “braindead” EU. And don’t forget that it was him who put Ursula von der Leyen into the EU commission to lead it. Anybody who makes Ursula von der Leyen head of an organization clearly has the goal of destroying it.
I think he knows that his presidency will end soon, he probably will not be elected again, in April 2022.
He will. And France will be the leading nation in post-EU Europe. Sorry for the Kartoffels. They do not understand what’s going on anyway. Soon you will see Macron shake hands with President Putin.

Victor Orban is not a Catholic. I don;t think that radically alters your analysis, but it is worth noting that the pro-Christian leadership in Hungary is almost entirely Protestant.
Macron’s visit to Orban is the capitulation of the EU. Orban is the Iceberg in the path of the EU burocrat Titanic.
Macron’s time is running out. He will not be re-elected, the French people hate him. His anti-covid measures did him in.
