PUETRO BARRIOS, Guatemala (November 28, 2011) A member of the Guatemalan special forces shows Marines attached to Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) the eatable part of a plant that can be consumed to sustain life in the jungles of Puetro Barrios Nov. 28. This subject matter expert exchange (SMEE) on jungle survival tactics were given to show U.S. Marines how Guatemalan special forces survive in the jungle with the absence of traditional packaged food. SPMAGTF is participating in Amphibious-Southern Partnership Station 2012 (AMPHIB-SPS 12), an annual deployment of SMEE teams sent to U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility.
