Libyan government officials arrive in Moscow for talks

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A delegation of the government of national unity of Libya has arrived in Russia, the issue of resuming the work of the Russian embassy in Tripoli was raised during talks with Russian officials, Lev Dengov, head of the contact group on Libya at the Russian Foreign Ministry and State Duma, said Thursday.

“A delegation of the government of national unity of Libya has arrived in Moscow. A number of meetings took place within the framework of the visit, including in the Ministry of Agriculture and the Foreign Ministry,”

Dengov told Sputnik.

“The Libyan side raised the question of returning the Russian diplomatic mission to Libya.”

The Russian Embassy in Libya is currently based in Tunisia as it was evacuated from the Libyan capital in August 2014 due to the worsening of the situation in the country. Currently, the missions of almost all Western countries to Libya work from Tunisia, as well.
